Mini's First Accident

Yesterday hubs and I went to dinner at Texas de Brazil for a late birthday treat.  While we were gone, Mini fell onto a toy block at her grandparents' house, cutting her eye lid open as well as cutting her nose and between her eye.  This is the first time she has ever hurt herself pretty bad, so of course I was freaked out.  I even slept in her room for part of the night!  We took her to Cook Children's to have her checked out (I wanted to make sure she didn't have any facial fractures), and the doctor said she is going to be just fine.  No broken bones or vision impairment, just some nasty cuts and bruises.  Thank goodness, because it could have been a lot worse.  I took off work today to give Mini some TLC and it has been so worth it.  I love her so much!  It's true when they say that once you become a mother, your heart leaves your body...sigh :)

"Thank You"

Ok, I have no pictures and no video for this post.  However, this is one of the coolest posts I have written in a while.  :)

Yesterday, I came home from work and started immediately playing and taking care of Kathryn.  James went to the grocery store to buy food for dinner, so I was cleaning up the kitchen and unloading the dishwasher.  Mini has a couple of drawers in the kitchen that she is allowed (aka not baby-proofed) to get into.  They consist of tupperware, dish cloths, and paper baggies.  Well, I'm unloading the dishwasher and come across a spatula.  Perfect for baby play, right?  So, I handed the rubber spatula to Mini, and she tells me, very nonchalantly, "thank you."  Holy crap.  I almost cried/peed my pants.  For all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, godmothers, if you have a pulse (lol)...you know how I feel.  PROUDEST MOM MOMENT EVER.  James and I have never stressed the word thank you, or tried to have her repeat it to us.  Everytime she brings us something (which is often, come on she is a toddler), we always say "thank you".  But she was saying thank you and knowing what it meant...she actually understand the word and when to use it.  I'm still in awe.  I know that every mother thinks their child is the smartest most wonderful baby alive (and they should), but I really think mine is the smartest and most wonderful baby alive!  Ok that is enough bragging.  But seriously, she is great.  Ok I'll stop.  :)

Breckenridge 2011

James and I had the amazing opportunity to go on a snowboarding trip this past week.  We went with my parents and sisters.  It was a very last-minute trip, and I'm so excited we went.  On Saturday, we drove up to Breckenridge, CO.  It took us about 16 hours.  Yup, 16!  Kathryn did absolutely wonderful.  She didn't cry once.  I must credit that to Dora and the portable DVD player we borrowed from some friends.  They were a lifesaver!
James and I snowboarded on Sunday and Monday.  It was soooo cold.  I think the lowest temp was around -16.  Crazy!  James had never snowboarded before, and he did great.  I can't wait until Kathryn gets old enough to snowboard and we can both teach her.  :)
On Tuesday, James snowboarded with my dad and sisters and I stayed at the condo with Mini and my mom.  I wasn't feeling too well, so snowboarding was not on the agenda for me!  My mom and I shopped in downtown Breckenridge, and she taught me how to knit.  I'm determined to be some-what crafty (currently I'm working on a green scarf for K).  Since my mom is the queen of knitting, it should be easy to learn.
At night we completely relaxed...played dominos, board games, drank wine, watched movies, and just plain vegged.  It was so nice to be away from work and every day life.  Even if it was in the bitter cold!
We drove back all day Wednesday.  It took a little less time, around 15 hours.  Mini did great once again.  When we got home, the dogs were sooo excited to see us.  We left them at the house and a boy that lives next door took very good care of them.  Kershaw hasn't left James' side once since we've been back!
We are already ready for next year's trip.  Mini should be ready for tubbing by then.  So excited!  :)

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is Mini's daddy, aka hubs, also known as James', birthday.  :)  I took the day off so we could have a rare day off together as a family.  We went to Chick Fil A and had a spicy chicken biscuit, which isn't on the menu yet.  It was very tasty.  James was also kind enough to do a little house cleaning with me, which included taking down the Christmas lights and putting all the decorations up in the attic (and a little garage cleaning thrown in).  My wonderful sisters came over to babysit so hubs and I could go out on a date.  We went to a Mexican restaurant called Anejo (means the House of Tequila) and then went to the Pour House in downtown Fort Worth.  James works there on the weekends so it was neat to see where he has been working the last year.  On the way home, James made me we listened to "Eye of the Tiger" and "Mr. Roboto".  I felt like I was at a high school football game....James completed the experience with fist pumps and air drums.  I think he had a good night... :)

Christmas Eve Pics

Remember in my last post where I forgot to take pictures on Christmas Eve? Well James' dad was kind enough to send me some of the pictures he took.  Enjoy!
