Breckenridge 2011

James and I had the amazing opportunity to go on a snowboarding trip this past week.  We went with my parents and sisters.  It was a very last-minute trip, and I'm so excited we went.  On Saturday, we drove up to Breckenridge, CO.  It took us about 16 hours.  Yup, 16!  Kathryn did absolutely wonderful.  She didn't cry once.  I must credit that to Dora and the portable DVD player we borrowed from some friends.  They were a lifesaver!
James and I snowboarded on Sunday and Monday.  It was soooo cold.  I think the lowest temp was around -16.  Crazy!  James had never snowboarded before, and he did great.  I can't wait until Kathryn gets old enough to snowboard and we can both teach her.  :)
On Tuesday, James snowboarded with my dad and sisters and I stayed at the condo with Mini and my mom.  I wasn't feeling too well, so snowboarding was not on the agenda for me!  My mom and I shopped in downtown Breckenridge, and she taught me how to knit.  I'm determined to be some-what crafty (currently I'm working on a green scarf for K).  Since my mom is the queen of knitting, it should be easy to learn.
At night we completely relaxed...played dominos, board games, drank wine, watched movies, and just plain vegged.  It was so nice to be away from work and every day life.  Even if it was in the bitter cold!
We drove back all day Wednesday.  It took a little less time, around 15 hours.  Mini did great once again.  When we got home, the dogs were sooo excited to see us.  We left them at the house and a boy that lives next door took very good care of them.  Kershaw hasn't left James' side once since we've been back!
We are already ready for next year's trip.  Mini should be ready for tubbing by then.  So excited!  :)

  1. It looks like the weather was near perfect for snowboarding! And you went to the famous crepe place...score!

  2. Looks like you guys had a wonderful time! My parents bought a house about an hour from Breckenridge and hope to move up there once their house here sells. My Dad and sister were up there the week after Christmas and spent a day or two skiing as well -- even though it was bitterly cold at times.

By the way, they can make it to their house in about 12.5 hours, so you made pretty decent time on the trip. We haven't taken Kamy up there yet since we aren't sure how well a 9 month old will handle a 13 hour drive. That's quite a way! Kathryn did great though!

Glad you had a great time!
