A Week in iPhone Pics

Week 2.  I survived, but I missed Thursday.  :(  Sorry, Thursdays and Fridays are rough for me.  Enjoy!

May 22-28, 2011
Sunday
Sunday morning was all about Dixie.  Mini would not leave her side, and vice versa.  :)  Later that afternoon we visited her Grandma Yvonne and Grandpa Ted.  She got to hang out with her cousins, including baby cousin Hiram.  It was so much fun, she almost fell asleep on daddy.  :)

Monday
On Monday, Mini caught up on the Sunday newspaper with dad.  She also played with her new toy, her very own camera.  She's getting really good at taking our pictures.

Tuesday
Tuesday was quite possibly the scariest day of my life.  Read my earlier blog about the tornado.  AWFUL.  Before the tornado came (and we holed up in the shower), I re-organized K's closet to include her toy chest.  It fits perfectly and saves space in her room!

Wednesday
Daddy went to the Rangers game with some co-workers, so K had to support his team in her own jersey.  Mini wore her shades at Chipotle that night.  Doesn't she look cool? ;)  She is really big into cuddling and giving hugs, including water bottles.  LOL.

Thursday
Bad bad.  No picture.  Oops!

Friday
Mini did some coloring at Grandma's house while I was at work.  She is also smiling on command now...which is awesome!  We say smile, and she gives us this funky grill-like smile.  I love it!

Saturday
Hubs has been off this weekend which has been super cool.  We never have a day off together so it feels like a mini vacay!  We went to Panera in the morning, where Mini enjoyed a big girl cup of water.  Later that day I captured her putting chap stick on.  Also, in between that, the schnauzers got hair cuts.  Don't they look wonderful?

Tornado 5/24/2011

I can't think of a more clever title for this blog post.  Yesterday was extremely scary for me.  I have spent my whole life in Texas, minus 3 years in Oklahoma (which have more tornadoes than Texas), and tornadoes still scare the living daylights out of me.  More so now because I have a Mini to take care of.  Last night, around 7:45 pm, Kathryn was sleeping, James was watching American Idol, and I was painting my nails.  All of a sudden, AI was interupted by Fox 4 for bad weather.  No bueno.  For you non-American Idol watchers, that is a huge deal.  It is the top watched TV show, and to interupt the final 2 performances, is major.  James and I went outside (along with the rest of the neighborhood) to check out the sky.  It was a very surreal moment- the sky was a green/yellow (major bad sign for tornado), the clouds were moving quickly, and the wind had slowed down.  I was headed back inside when the sirens started to go off.  I have never moved so fast in my life.  I ran into K's room, swooped her up, and headed straight for our bathroom.  Of course, along the way, I grabbed my Louie Vuitton, MacBook, and iPad :) (don't judge me).  The dogs were herded in the bathroom with us and we waited.  James, of course, had to stay in the room and look outside, ocassionally even going outside.  Men, I tell you.  We even lost power for about 10 minutes which really scared me.  No power meant no news, and on top of that it was getting dark outside making tornado spotting even more difficult.  I have never prayed so hard and so fast in my life.  After a few close calls (the news reported tornado touchdowns all over DFW, one in particular on 183 near our house), we were safe.  Now we just had to worry about the baseball/soft ball sized hail damage that had occurred.  Luckily hubs' truck was just fine.  Weather looks good for the next week or so (I never thought I would be so happy to see sunny and 90 degrees in the forecast), but I'm sure this is just the beginning of more storms to come.  If you are from another part of the country, say a prayer for all us Tornado Alley people for the next couple of months!

P.S.  I told hubs I want a storm shelter built in our backyard.  Like, today.  :)

Mini was pretty content watching Dora on "her" iPad during the storm

Won't all the tornadoes just go away?

I have all my precious items with me in the tub.  (Kershaw and hubs were in the bathroom, people ;) )

A Week in iPhone Pics

It's hard to not get sucked into the vortex of Mommy Blogging.  I do my best to stay away, but I couldn't pass this one up.  It's a new fad called "A Week in iPhone Pics."  You basically take pictures with your iPhone (or other mobile device) each day, and post them to your blog.  Sounds easy but it's pretty difficult to keep up with, especially when you are a working mom who has other things to worry about.  :)  We are going to give this one a go, so I hope you enjoy a weeks worth of Mini pics.

Sunday
My sisters and I feathered our hair while we were in Norman, OK for the weekend.  I couldn't leave Mini out, so I got her her own feather (don't worry people, I super glued it to a clip).  Isn't she stylin'?

Monday
While I was at work, hubs took this picture with his phone.  The boxes are always more fun than the toys!

Tuesday
Hubs decided it would be fun to dress her up in her BAB (stands for big a$$ bow :)) and tutu that she wore during her 7 month photo shoot.  Of course, my skiny Mini still fits in it.  Later that evening, we went to Joe's with my parents and all their friends.  It was past her bedtime so we put Dora on for her and she was happy as a clam.

Wednesday
Mini and hubs played hard all day long, so it was nap time a little early.  I love it how she falls asleep so easily on her daddy.

Thursday
Kathryn got to spend all day with her Grandma, Pa Pa, Nanny, and Emmy.  Talk about the jackpot!  Here she is trying on Aunt Emmy's new shades.

Friday
Pa Pa and Grandma picked up Mini in the morning and took her to McDonalds.  On the way home, Lamby drove.  ;)  Grandma got K a new swimsuit/floaty (not spoiled at all) and she wasn't too sure about it.  Later that night, Mins enjoyed a good piece of cheese.

Saturday
The day started out with playing in the ball pit, then getting so tired she couldn't get up.  LOL.  That afternoon she enjoyed a movie and snack in her rocking chair.  Do you see the new feather her Pa Pa made her?  My dad fly fishes, and if you can believe it, uses the same type of feathers that girls put in their hair!  She is one lucky Mini!

Mother's Day, a Week Late :(

Life has been pretty hectic and I have been way behind in blogging.  Here are some pictures from Mother's Day weekend.  I woke up to beautiful flowers from Kathryn and a necklace and diet coke from hubs.  I am one lucky Momma.  :)

Nanny's Graduation

Aunt Nanny graduated from OU this past weekend!  Woohoo!  That meant an excuse to drive up to my alma mater and introduce hubs and Mini to all that is Norman Oklahoma.

It began with a trip to Rudy's BBQ....

Followed with a trip to the stadium for graduation....

The next day brought beautiful weather, and a day full of shopping, eating, and walking around campus.

That evening Natalie walked across the stage at her Commencement and accepted her diploma, with a Bachelor of Nursing.  :)

Big sister is so proud of you and all your accomplishments Natalie!  You are going to be a wonderful nurse and Texas Health HEB is lucky to have you!
