Happy 4th of July!

Last night (July 3rd) our family went to Southlake Town Square to watch the fireworks show.  We met up with friends and both our families and had a great time.  I bought Mini a light-up sword, and she had a blast walking around and showing it off to everyone.  She did really good during the show, and was honestly more interested in her sword than the fireworks!  It was a great evening.  We are looking forward to more swimming and fireworks today.  Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Week 7: June 26-July 2, 2011

Sunday

Sunday donuts, the usual.  :)  Mini had to put up with an hours worth of grocery shopping at Walmart (blah) so we hit the splash park for an hour.  Always a great time.

Monday

James took Mini to the FW Police Academy for burritos- they were having a benefit for an officer who was wounded on the job.  She had a great time meeting some of her daddy's friends.  I work from home now, and when I went to the kitchen to get some water, I stumbled across a sleeping hubs, and dogs.  LOL.  That evening we practiced eating dinner with a big girl fork.  She is getting really good at it!  Afterwards it was the nightly bath time, which is always fun.

Tuesday
Lots of pictures today!  Yummy lunch, a "green" bath which = pruned feet, and a chat with mom that ended in a kiss.  :)

Wednesday

I had to go to the office today, so Mini got to have some one on one time with her daddy.  It started with a "breakfast of champions", consisting of eggs and organic waffles.  Later that evening, Booda and I enjoyed some relaxing time on the couch.

That morning K had a big girl breakfast consisting of eggs and cinnamon toast; later that afternoon we hung out at the pool.

Mini V.2

There is something about your first child turning 2 that makes everyone ask "so when are you going to have another one"?  For a while I thought the answer was never, but after thinking long and hard (and giving in to hubs persuasions) we have decided together that we are going to have another one.  Now don't get crazy now people, Mini V.2 will not make her (or his) appearance for a couple of years.  I would like them to be at least 4 years a part.  I am so excited about finally deciding, and will savor the next couple of years with just me and my Mini.  I know she is going to be a fantabulous big sister and such a good help when the time comes for another.  With K going into preschool/kindergarden when that time comes, V.2 and I will be able to have our own quality time together.  Mini will always be so special being our oldest and only for so long, but I think with this age gap they will be at different mile markers in their lives that one will not over shadow the other.  So, here's to hoping for another girl!  Oops, I mean boy.  (Sorry hubs ;))

A Trip to the Park with Dad

This morning while I worked from home, James took Mini to the duck pond.  They had to go early because of the heat, so the pictures turned out great!  She is getting so good at climbing stairs and crawling through tunnels.  It's hard to believe she will be 2 years old soon...sigh.  I particularly love the last picture of "the look."  I have her Aunt Nanny and Grandma to thank for that one.  ;)

The "Pool" Bath

This weather has been quite ridiculous lately.  Texas has already hit triple digits, and we still have 3 more full months of summer.  Ouch.  It is even too hot for the pool!  My babe is very fair skinned and nothing scares me more than a sunburn on that sweet little body.  So instead of playing in the outside pool, we decided to bring it indoors.  Hubs and I bought some cool toys for Mini to play with and she had lots of fun.  She was a total prune when we were done!

Sunday

Father's Day!  James had to work so we spent the day at my parent's pool.  She was so excited on the car ride there.  Her hair is getting so long I am able to french braid it.  So cute!

Monday

Father's Day number 2.  Since James was off, we had dinner at Uncle Julio's with his parents, sister, and niece.  These pics are from the drive there.  She looks like such a big girl reading her book!

Tuesday

Have you heard the expression, "the egg is on your face?"  Well, that describes the first picture...literally.  :)  I love bath time with my Mini.  So much fun!

Saturday
Mini ate an entire biscuit all by herself.  When it was gone she asked for more and gave me that look when I told her there wasn't anymore.  :)  She is starting to really understand her Dora shows and participate, and her favorite is when Isa turns the wheel.  She knows when it is coming up in the show, jumps up, and does the movements really big.  It is hilarious! 

My New Gig

Changing jobs is a pretty big deal.  Not that I would know, because this is my first time (in my professional career).  I knew it would be challenging but was unsure of what to really expect.  2 1/2 weeks ago I became a builder on the CareConnect Security Team at THR.  Same company, same department, just new role.  Instead of providing site support for the electronic health record at the hospitals, I provide the behind-the-scenes build (security, to be more specific).  What does that really mean?  My team controls what a user can see and do when they log in.  We are the gatekeepers.  The way in.  And I love it.  When I became certified in the software 2 years ago, I knew that security was what I wanted to do.  So here I am, finally doing it!  I never in a million years would have thought I was to grow up to be a computer programmer.  It's amazing where life takes us sometimes....  :)
